CSRD - and what it means for you as a Westpack customer
CSRD stands for Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive. It is an EU directive that sets requirements for companies’ sustainability reporting. In short, it means that companies must be more transparent and adhere to common standards when reporting on their environmental, social, and governance practices – also known as ESG.
The purpose of CSRD
The aim of CSRD is to create greater transparency. When companies report according to uniform criteria, it becomes easier to compare and evaluate efforts across industries and countries. This strengthens trust in the published data – and ensures it can be used as a solid basis for decision-making.
What does the directive involve?
With CSRD, sustainability reporting is placed on the same level as financial reporting. Companies must be able to document:
- Environmental impact – such as CO₂ emissions and resource consumption.
- Social factors – including employee well-being and working environment.
- Governance practices – such as ethics, transparency, and risk management.
An important aspect is that reporting is not limited to the company itself. The entire value chain, including suppliers, must be thoroughly documented.

What does this mean for you as a Westpack customer?
Although Westpack is not yet directly covered by CSRD, we already operate as if we were. Many of our customers are subject to the directive, and therefore, it is important for us to provide the necessary documentation.
As a customer, you can expect that we:
- Provide transparent and reliable ESG data.
- Support your reporting requirements with relevant information.
- Continue to act as a responsible and transparent partner throughout the value chain.
In short
CSRD is about accountability and transparency. At Westpack, this means you can rely on well-documented sustainability data that helps you meet your own reporting requirements – while we jointly contribute to a more sustainable future.
