SHARE THE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT
HOW TO...?
Create a sense of magic with Christmas logos.
When Christmas approaches, it is time to share joy and create unforgettable moments. One way to do this is to print Christmas-themed logos on your packaging! Let’s explore how this tactic can be the perfect way to transform your products into Christmas presents.
#1 – Seasonal appeal
Do you want your packaging to be as Christmassy as chestnuts roasting on an open fire? To tap into the seasonal spirit, you need to find the Christmas icons that are most recognizable. Snowflakes, reindeer, and Christmas trees are widely used.
Helpful reminder: what is considered a tradition in some countries is not a tradition in others. In Denmark, for example, we eat lots of Klejner (twisted dough fried in lard). Meanwhile in Finland, they often eat Joulutorttu (pastries filled with plum jam). Yes, you guessed it; most Christmas traditions in the North were created before the Food Pyramid came into existence.
Our point is, that if you have an international customer base, you could benefit from only using the references that most people will recognize. The following iconic figures are near-universal symbols of Christmas – not least due to popular Hollywood movies:
String lights – Cookies – Carolers – Angels – Stars – Stockings – Snowmen – Bells – Reindeer – Christmas trees
#2 - Emotional Connection
What is it about Christmas? It seems that during this particular holiday, people are on their best behavior. The grumpy businessman suddenly remembers how he used to sled down snow-covered slopes in the town he grew up. Next thing you know, he’s humming along to "I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday".
Perhaps an anthropologist can explain the phenomenon. But the fact remains that Christmas is a time for feeling happy and cozy feelings. And if your packaging can tap into that feeling – you are really onto something. But how do you actually do this?
Well, one very simple way to do this is simply by asking yourself “what message would resonate with me?” It could be something that is important to you – words of wisdom you want to share – or a quote that always seemed meaningful to you.
And if you find that advice to be somewhat vague, there is also the option of saying thank you to your customers. For example, you could say:
We appreciate you more than words can express! So we will use emojis instead: 🎄 🎅 🎆 🎁 🎊 🎀 🎂 🎌 🎄
#3 - SoMe Magic
Did you know that baristas create latte art because it makes the coffee taste much better? No, wait… that can’t be right.
They create it for (some of) the same reasons you should use seasonal branded packaging:
• The customer enjoys the aesthetics of it
• It signals quality and creates an experience for the customer
• It is undeniably Instagrammable
And it is that last point we are talking about here. Wouldn’t you love to get notifications saying how “Customer Customerson tagged your awesome Christmas packaging in a post”?
It would be a giant kudos to your brand; people enjoying your seasonal packaging to the extent that they would become ambassadors to your brand.
But how do you make that happen? Well, there are some tried-and-true strategies for making people engage with your content:
It looks amazing:
People generally want to share beautiful things with each other. So, all you need to do is come up with an amazing-looking concept for your Christmas logos. Luckily, we have made some examples you can take inspiration from 😊 You can see them all later in the article.
It is funny:
Your Christmas logo could also be something that makes the customer chuckle. Perhaps the inside of the postal box’ lid could read:
It taps into a nostalgic feeling:
You could also go with the strategy of making your Christmas logo look like something from a Bing Crosby song. Picture a snow-covered cottage with twinkling fairy lights, smoke rising from the chimney, and a warmly lit window revealing a family gathered around a Christmas tree, as a vintage sleigh rests outside.
(Okay, we must admit that’s a bit too much. It could also be a car parked outside. A cozy vintage car.)
It contains a common cultural reference:
Your postal box could also feature a play on something that people typically associate with Christmas. Perhaps something like:
It combines the famous John McClane quote from Die Hard with a classic ‘Christmas Carol’ reference.
