Fundraiser: We are donating funds to plant 2108 trees in Borneo

As tradition dictates, the annual recurring UN event "Forest Day" has been celebrated with a week-long fundraiser here at Westpack. The fundraiser aimed to raise funds for tree planting in Borneo. We are pleased to announce that the campaign week has resulted in us donating 2108 trees—a thousand thanks for your help.

The fundraiser, which ran from March 18 to March 25, was simple: we donated money for two trees for every order our customers placed on the website during the fundraiser.

Where are the trees planted?

The 2108 trees are planted in Borneo's Sabangau National Park, which is part of Indonesia. The project focuses on restoring areas destroyed by forest fires. The goal is to plant 1 million trees by 2025 to revive the park's unique biodiversity and strengthen the ecosystem. This initiative is crucial for preserving the natural environment and protecting the living conditions of local communities.

Who plants the trees?

We collaborate with One Tree Planted, a non-profit organization that has been focused on reforesting worldwide since 2014. In 2023, they planted nearly 52,000,000 trees in 72 countries, equivalent to more than 97,000 hectares of restored forest. The organization works with local communities and is responsible for selecting, growing, and planting trees.

About Forest Day

In 2012, the United Nations General Assembly declared March 21 Forest Day. On this day, countries worldwide are encouraged to launch initiatives to protect and restore natural habitats, such as tree-planting campaigns. The theme for 2024 is "Forests and Innovation: New Solutions for a Better World".
