We donated 4,398 trees for a coastal restoration in Sumatra - thanks to our customers

In connection with the International Day of Forests on March 21, we held a fundraiser aimed at raising funds for planting trees. And now we are pleased to announce that we have donated 4,398 trees - equivalent to 3.5 hectares.

The fundraiser took place in the period March 21 to March 28, and the concept was simple: we donated five trees for each order that our customers placed in our online store during the fundraiser. Our customers also had the option of donating additional trees - all funds have, of course, gone uncut to the donation.

The donation was completed on April 5, 2022, and now we would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for the overwhelming support! SO many customers placed an order and we got SO many positive messages on social media. We literally could not have done this without our amazing customers.

Where will the trees be planted?

The 4,398 trees have been donated to a coastal restoration project in Aceh province, North Sumatra. This is a project that One Tree Planted will be launching in May, and 100,000 trees will be planted across 80 hectares.

Who will plant the trees?

We work with One Tree Planted, a non-profit organization that has focused on re-establishing forests around the world since 2014. In 2021, they planted more than 23 million trees and recreated more than 35,000 acres of forest spread across six regions.

The organization collaborates with local partners, who are responsible for selecting, cultivating and planting the trees. Indigenous varieties are selected depending on the specific location of forests to be re-established.

About the International Day of Forests

In 2012, the UN General Assembly decided that March 21 is the International Day of Forests. On this day, the countries of the world are encouraged to launch initiatives aimed at protecting and restoring natural habitats - for example through tree planting campaigns. This year's theme is “Forests and sustainable production and consumption”.
