Our flatpack Plano 1000 folding boxes have been a staple in our product range ever since 1982. Time for an update!
Kirsten Dahl Petersen, Marketing Manager at Westpack, is one of the creative forces behind this new, plain brown version of this classic box. “There is no doubt in our mind that our customers are mad about the natural and pure look that is fashionable now. And, for that matter, so are we! It made a lot of sense for us to expand our Plano 1000 series with boxes in this exact colour.“
Ingenious in So Many Ways
Let's go back in time a bit. How can a box still be ingenious 36 years later? Kirsten doesn’t hesitate to respond: “Plano 1000 has a simple, timeless design: it lasts for decades.”
Kirsten emphasises the box’s practical functionality: “The boxes are plain and no-nonsense. They are available in many sizes, also those that you would normally not find among the jewellery boxes, such as packaging for chalice, tableware and silverware. Other than that, the boxes are incredibly low-cost, making them ideal for jewellery in the lower price segment, or gifts and accessories. Lastly, the boxes are delivered flat packed, so they hardly take up room in your storage.”
ECO or not
We produce the new Plano 1000 boxes in the same plain brown colour as our beloved Frankfurt ECO and Boston ECO boxes. We did not, however, call this box ECO. Kirsten understands the confusion and elaborates: “Let me be clear: we use eco-friendly paper, and the production takes place in Denmark, just as with the Frankfurt Eco and Boston Eco.
There is just one reason the product name doesn't directly reflect the eco-friendly approach, and that is the price. Our Plano 1000 has a very low price. Adding an ECO-stamp to this product, as all our ECO-products have, would make the production of the box considerably more expensive, meaning it would also have to cost more. We don’t feel that a cost-increase would be a good thing for this packaging line.”
Fold and Assemble on the Spot
Plano 1000 boxes are delivered flat packed and need to be assembled before use. Don’t worry though; the boxes are quite easy to fold and do not require glueing. The fold lines are clearly marked, and once you have folded a couple, you’ll get the hang of it.
Kirsten demonstrates us just how easy it is to fold the boxes:
Plano 1000 can be bought with or without your logo. The branding is done at a small surcharge. Pick a black logo for a contemporary look, a debossed clear logo to add to the natural look of the box or go for a more traditional approach with a logo in metallic gold.
Plano 1000 is available in three colours: matt black, white (not ECO) and plain brown.
