UN'S SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS
OUR COMPANY IS BASED ON FOUR VALUES:
RESPONSIBILITY, TRUSTWORTHINESS, COMMUNITY, AND BUSINESS ACUMEN.
Therefore, CSR is in our DNA. However, to help ourselves and our suppliers meet actual, measurable goals and standards, it is also part of our strategy, our practices, and our policies. To ensure that we adhere to the fundamental principles of responsible business conduct, Westpack has made the strategic decision to support the UN Global Compact initiative. By being part of this global and well-recognised initiative, we believe we have the best possible framework for integrating strategies, policies, and procedures that will secure Westpack’s long-term success.
WESTPACK IS PART OF THE UN'S SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS.
Westpack meets the requirements of DNV’s framework for implementing the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals for sustainable development and has selected and subsequently prioritised the following UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Our goals for the upcoming financial year (May 2024 – April 2025) |
|
|
TARGET 3.4Denmark and asiaWestpack will conduct a well-being survey for all employees in Q1 and Q3 of 2024/25. Based on the evaluation, specific initiatives will be agreed upon accordingly. Once the results of the well-being survey are available, a new goal for future surveys will be set each year in Q1 and Q3. AsiaIn 2024/25, Westpack will conduct additional CSR audits among Asian suppliers. The goal is for at least 94% of all suppliers to be CSR-audited. |
|
Target 7.2 og 7.3DenmarkIn 2024/25, Westpack will continue to use only green energy (wind and solar) in our production. Even as our production activity increases throughout the year, we must ensure that our total energy consumption does not grow at the same rate as our production. To achieve this, several energy optimisation projects will be implemented and continuously monitored, including through monthly information meetings. Our objective is to maintain our total CO2 emissions for 2024/25 at 1.04 tonnes of CO2 per tonne of produced units. The internal energy projects mentioned are essential to achieving this goal. This target of 1.04 tonnes of CO2 per tonne of produced items is also an agreement between Westpack and our financial partner, Nykredit. By Q4 2024/25, we will have achieved ISO 14001 certification in Environmental Management. AsiaWestpack vil i Asien gennemføre et energioptimeringsprojekt hos en udvalgt leverandør. |
|
Target 8.6 og 8.8DenmarkWestpack will continue to hire apprentices above the employment quota set by the authorities. Westpack will screen 100% of production employees in Danish and Digital skills and provide further training as needed. Westpack will continue its collaboration with FCM Samfund, an organisation dedicated to supporting young people on the margins of society. Through this partnership, Westpack offers various roles designed to provide young individuals with valuable practical work experience. Westpack will also maintain its cooperation with Holstebro Municipality, assisting citizens through various resource programmes. AsiaWestpack aims for at least 94% of our total purchases in 2024/25 to come from CSR-audited suppliers. |
|
Target 12.2 og 12.5DenmarkIn addition to complying with waste sorting regulations, we have decided to separate our cardboard and paper. By Q3 2025/26, our goal is for at least 90% of our paper to be sorted separately. Westpack will continue to use only FSC®-certified raw materials in our production. Westpack will maintain our FSC multisite certification, as well as our membership and active participation in FSC Denmark. We will uphold our ISO 9001 and SDG certifications in our Danish production. By Q4 2024/25, we will have achieved ISO 14001 certification in environmental management. WE KEEP A CLOSE EYE ON OUR CSR EFFORTS
DATA-DRIVEN AND STANDARDISED REPORTING
At Westpack, we have worked over the years to become more data-driven in our CSR documentation. By participating in the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, Westpack has committed to reporting CSR activities and results in accordance with internationally recognised standards. This reporting method aligns with some of the leading companies in CSR and enables our partners to better compare Westpack with competitors in terms of CSR performance.
Through the UN Global Compact, we commit to annually reporting our CSR efforts and results within:

ENVIRONMENT
SOCIAL IMPACT
HUMAN RIGHTS
ANTI-CORRUPTION

SUSTAINABLE
MATERIALS AND
PRODUCTION METHODS
Westpack continuously works to offer the widest possible selection of environmentally friendly materials.
To make our environmentally friendly products easier to spot on our website, we have created a dedicated brand for these products: ECO. Any product made from FSC® or Fairtrade-certified materials – or from organic, biodegradable, or recycled materials – can be found in this product category.
Our ECO label is typically placed in a clearly visible position on our products, helping our customers promote the message of sustainability.
OUR COMPANY MAKES A DIFFERENCE
WESTPACK IN ASIA
Operating an ethically responsible business in Asia requires a level of diligence and caution that is not as necessary in Europe, where most of our customers are based. Staying true to Westpack’s core values, we go to great lengths to ensure a sustainable impact in the countries where we operate.
Westpack is a full member of amfori, which provides access to the BSCI platform. This platform is renowned for its transparency in the monitoring process. Another key advantage is amfori Academy, which offers training and e-learning for members. This will allow Westpack’s employees in Asia to expand their expertise and stay up to date on CSR matters. Employees at our suppliers’ facilities will also have access to amfori Academy, further strengthening Westpack’s value chain.
Although we are transitioning to a new audit platform, we will continue our close collaboration with Bureau Veritas, which will conduct BSCI audits for us. Bureau Veritas has been assisting us in auditing factories since 2014.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND OPPORTUNITIES
At Westpack, we believe that a good working environment embraces differences and fosters innovation. Our employees’ well-being is both a moral responsibility and a crucial necessity for running a successful business. We could not achieve what we do without our employees thriving. Many of our team members have been with Westpack for more than 10, 20, or even 40 years, and we take great pride in that.
Westpack has an annual profit-sharing scheme, where all employees receive a fixed percentage of the profits. Everyone—from machine operators to key account managers, from interns to accountants—receives the same amount. This has been our practice since 1989. The strategic reason behind our annual profit-sharing is to foster a sense of community in the workplace. It is also a way to show that every single employee makes a difference.
WESTPACK AS A BUSINESS PARTNER
SUPPLIERS AND SUBCONTRACTORS
Westpack's mission is to ensure that all our internal affairs align with both the UN Global Compact and the Sustainable Development Goals. Equally important is our commitment to maintaining responsible CSR practices throughout our supply chains. The entire organisation adheres to the principles of the UN Global Compact and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. This applies across the entire value chain that Westpack is responsible for and has the ability to influence.
Westpack's Code of Conduct serves not only as a guideline for the business conduct expected of our suppliers but also as a tool for continuously assessing them. Suppliers must grant Westpack and/or any representatives acting on behalf of Westpack unrestricted access to production facilities, employees, and all relevant data necessary for auditing in accordance with SA8000 principles. Audits may be conducted with or without prior notice.
Westpack Code of Conduct
Westpack's Code of Conduct is rooted in the values on which Westpack was built. We are committed to these values, which include trustworthiness, community, and, most importantly, responsibility. These values align with the standards of SA8000. Here are some key aspects of our Code of Conduct:
