Our customers love our new environmentally-friendly product ranges. We label these products with “ECO”. Read what this term covers here:
ECO is our own brand, which serves as an umbrella term for all our eco-friendly, organic products, recycled products, FSC-products and Fairtrade® products. We use the ECO label for products that meet our strict requirements re toxic chemicals and products that are damaging to the environment or eco-system.
ECO-products are easy to recognise by the brand label displayed on the product pictures. We stamp our ECO-products with the ECO-logo so that you can show your customers that you care about the environment.
Not all products are branded with the ECO-stamp though. Our recycled wrapping papers and FSC wrapping papers, for example, and the folding boxes from the Plano and Cairo collection. They still call them ECO-products, though, so they are easy to recognise online.
FSC® stands for Forest Stewardship Council® and is an international non-profit labelling system for wood and paper.
The FSC mark guarantees that all materials come from an FSC forest, where no more wood is cut down than the forest can reproduce. This means better protection of the animal- and plant life, and all foresters have proper training, safety equipment and a decent wage.
All FSC certifications around the world are built on the same basic principles. When you buy an FSC marked product, you know what you get - no matter if the product is produced in Denmark or Bolivia.
Among our best-selling FSC products, you will find the jewellery boxes Boston ECO and Frankfurt ECO. These jewellery boxes have our FSC-brand inside the box under the foam insert.
Fairtrade® is an international labelling system and is about better prices, decent working conditions, local sustainability, and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world. By requiring companies to pay sustainable prices (which must never fall lower than the market price), Fairtrade addresses the injustices of conventional trade, which traditionally discriminates against the poorest, weakest producers. It enables them to improve their position and have more control over their lives.
Moreover, Fairtrade has a long list of demands for environmentally-friendly farming and use of pesticides. Both announced, and unannounced visits are made to ensure that all standards are met. Companies dealing with Fairtrade products are also obliged to comply with the standards of the Fairtrade brand.
In 2018 we launched our first Fairtrade product at Westpack: Fairtrade jewellery pouches in organic cotton. The Fairtrade logo is visibly placed on these pouches, sewn in on the inside of the collar so that you can show your ethical commitment to your customers.
